Rain, Rain, Go Away....

Mother nature always has to remind us who's in charge. Just as we were getting really into the swing of things, the rain started and we sit here and wait for it to dry out enough to get back to work. Until then I have 1,000 Christmas trees, 40 asparagus plants and a handful of grape and blueberry plants waiting to go in the ground. Thankfully the suppliers haven't shipped our strawberries or raspberries yet so we know they are going to be ok for now. Fortunately before the rain set in we were able to plant the Sugar Snap Peas and our first section of English Shelling Peas.
Until the fields dry out were focusing on indoor work. We spent the weekend starting seeds, and today noticed the first of our tomatoes and eggplants were emerging! We still have more seeds to start and trips to buy fertilizer to make so we will keep busy until the weather improves and we can get right back into the fields.
All Strawberries are uncovered and the raspberries and blueberries are beginning to leaf out so at least some things appear to be on schedule this year (knock on wood!).
